Last day of Adventure in Cebu

DAY 3

I woke up a little tired from yesterday’s activities. Again, it was time for us to have our last meal in the hotel, a breakfast at the 2nd floor again. A little difference in the food selection was served today but I just settled for a cup of coffee, pancakes, a french toast and a few sausages. It is a little sad because we will be leaving Cebu by the end of this day. Tine and I planned to have a dip in the hotel pool the night before but the pool closes at 10PM and we didn’t have enough time so we decided to do it that morning instead before buying a few Cebu snack specialties and finally checking out the hotel. Much to our disappointment, the pool is not yet ready and still needs to be cleaned. We ended up just sun bathing by the poolside, photographing each other and finally dozing off for a few minutes.

We then went to Shamrock, the famed Cebu snack store selling Cebu snack specialties such as Ojaldres, Otap, Dried Mangoes, Chicharon and a lot more snacks. Anj, Tine and I bought a lot! After buying our pasalubongs to our family we went back to the hotel to pack them in our bags and finally check out. We still have the whole afternoon in Cebu and so we just checked in the Concierge our bags and went out to explore more of Cebu by riding their public transport. I already asked directions the night before but being there is different. Even though I can communicate with their dialect, finding the way and knowing which stop to go is still a challenge especially that we hardly know the place. We still find our way through the city, thanks to the nice Cebuanos we asked. We stopped first at The Terraces. It was sort of a Ayala, Makati feel. We had lunch at Don Henrico’s, they have buffet lunch promo of pasta and pizza. I think Cebuanos are really into buffets, my entire stay is all about buffet. We wander through the mall a little bit then it started to rain a bit.

The Terraces, Cebu

We then rode a jeepney to SM Cebu to buy Tine’s t-shirt and the famous Cebu Lechon. I also ended up buying Salvaro cookies for my mom (it’s her favorite snack way back), mango puree and of course danggit. Tine and Anj, who doesn’t have any plans of buying danggit also bought some. Just across the street is the CNT Lechon. It is said to be the famous Cebu Lechon. I bought a kilo while Tine bought half a kilo to bring back to Manila and we bought one-fourth kilo for taste-testing. It was really good. Good thing too that they have a box just in case of shipment.

home of the Warm Brownie Cup in Cebu

Our last stop was the Asiatown IT Park, The Walk. It was like Metrowalk/ Alabang. We went to La Marea and tried their famed Warm Brownie Cup. It was delicious, warm chocolate brownie in a cup topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. We tried to look for another store famed for their frozen yogurt but it was a little far and it is already 5:30PM and so we decided to go back to the hotel and Kuya Jerome will be picking us up at 6PM. Since we were already tired walking around and we have some purchases, we opt to ride a taxi back.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we checked our stuff out and tried to re-pack them with the new purchases we had. I ended up with 3 bags plus the box of lechon. Good thing I brought an extra bag with me. Just in time Kuya Jerome arrived and off we go to the airport, a little sad that we’re leaving this wonderful place. Being talkative that Kuya Jerome is, he asked how was our last day. It was a non stop chit chat with him. Maybe that’s why we’re at ease with Kuya Jerome, he is easy to get along with without the eerie feel of being taken advantage of since we’re tourist and youngsters. Upon arrival at the airport, we wished us a safe trip and hope to drive us back again in Cebu in the near future.

it's Paul Jake Castillo!

Just before boarding, Tine and I went to buy some food and guess who we spotted. It’s Paul Jake Castillo, on his way also to Manila. Sadly, he will be riding a different plane.

on board to Manila

And that is how Anj, Tine and I went about in Cebu. I will definitely coming back here with Mama and the rest of the family maybe because I know how much they will be thrilled to be back once again to the place where they grew up and haven’t been back for almost 20 years.
